1st Year Apprentice Pipefitter/Welder

Job Type: Full Time, Project Based

Schedule: 8+ Hours/day, Fab Shop: Monday-Saturday, Schedule as per Operational Requirements, OT after 8hr/day or 40hr/week

Location: Fab Shop: 7331 – 18 Street NW, Edmonton, AB – no direct access to public transportation.

Essential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions

Requirements:
Personal Reliable Vehicle

CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support

Previous experience in a fabrication shop

Pre-employment:
Drug and alcohol testing swab-based

Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation

Mask Fit Testing

Apprentice Pipefitter Responsibilities:
Must be proficient with measuring, cutting, threading, grinding and bending of pipes, valves, and fittings.

Read and interpret blue prints and drawings.

Utilize oxy/acetylene hand torches, grinders, and bevellers in an efficient and safe manner.

Use proper rigging techniques.

Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Apprentice Welder Responsibilities:
Repairing and fabrication of various makes of heavy civil construction mobile equipment.

Read and interpret blue prints or welding process specifications.

Follow directions given in layouts, drawings and work orders.

Welding of various heavy equipment attachments and components utilizing MCAW and FCAW

Use of overhead cranes.

Ensures workmanship throughout the manufacturing process and on finished goods that meets or exceeds the cost, quality and schedule expectations.

Apprentice Qualifications:
Must be actively registered in the AIT program and working towards obtaining Journeyman or Red Seal Equivalent Steamfitter – Pipefitter – Welder Ticket.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

CSTS-09 and WHMIS-2015 are required.

Experience with hydro testing is required.
