Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Welder- Represented/Tariff located in Deer Park, TX.
About you
The person in this role will weld fabricated, cast, pipe and piping fixtures, forged components to assemble structural forms such as: Tanks, pressure vessels, chemical process piping systems, and structural steel.
Key Responsibilities
Review the job package and check if work can be carried out safely and according to the job package.
Obtain the work permit.
Perform the task for the job package.
If significant additional problems are identified during the job that may need a new work order, thoroughly investigate the source / cause of the problem according to the value-added work process.
Complete the work and return equipment to operations.
Complete input for updating (SAP).
Apply the welding skills in executing maintenance work.
Leverage trade skills to apprentice and other maintenance associates.
Assist in the development of maintenance work procedures.
Follow the Global Maintenance Work Process.
Feedback information on job package quality and root cause analysis data as required.
Document / record history.
Assist in maintenance planning.
Follows job plan to complete work.
Follows standard work procedures where available
Assembles and welds, applying geometry, physical properties of metal machine weld shrinkage, and welding techniques
Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together
Sets up equipment and welds parts, using various welding processes (gas-shielded arc, TIG, MIG, or gas weld).
Cleans work pieces to remove impurities, such as slag, rust, and grease, using wire brush, portable grinder, hand scraper, or chemical solutions
Required qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
5 or more years of experience working as a welder in an industrial environment.
Able to work overtime as needed (take callouts, cover turn around work, etc).
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Able to work in an environment where there is dust, fumes or gases and to changes of weather.
This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground.
Your preferred qualifications include
Associate’s degree in Welding Technology.
Previous experience operating a forklift.
Your skills, knowledge, and abilities include
Have a working knowledge of the following equipment: drill press, iron worker, turntables, and overhead hoists, portable and stationary welding machines, and air pipe bevellers.
Basic arithmetic (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate percentages) and graphing (e.g. bar, pie, line) essential.
Analytical skills.
Able to read drawings, pictures, and blueprints and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depth.
Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.
Have strong Interpersonal, Facilitative, and Organizational skills.
Effectively interacts with multiple functions and diverse individuals to achieve goals.
Demonstrates excellent decision-making skills and the ability to prioritize appropriately.
Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.
Has strong troubleshooting skills.
