Steel Fabricator/General Manager, Operations

FailSafe House Lifting Systems continuously develops leading structural lifting technologies and offers innovative, systematic and safe lifting systems of outstanding quality for industrial, commercial and residential applications. Our company has recently expanded its business operation and we are seeking a General Manager, Operations. The individual in this role will oversee all facets relating to the production and completion of current lifting system manufacturing projects and will have the opportunity to work with the CEO to develop new structural lifting system streams of product and manage related processes.

The General Manager, Operations will establish and maintain solid working relations and effectively communicate with key project stakeholders including fabricators, suppliers, drafts people, engineers, internal team members and others.

Responsibilities include:

· leading the request for proposal process, ensuring all estimating/costing and technical details are captured appropriately;

· developing proposals/bids and budgets for submission to a wide-range of potential clients

· negotiating contractual terms and conditions, pricing and other related matters;

· estimating, planning, scheduling and handling all details relating to the full cycle process of steel fabrication projects for structural lifting systems of various sizes and complexity;

· leading team members to ensure projects are completed within the defined scope, budget and timelines; issuing change orders as necessary;

· monitoring progress of each step in the process to ensure quality standards, processes and outcomes are achieved to ensure client expectations are met/exceeded;

· performing close-out procedures for each project in accordance to contractual terms.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a background in project management relating to the manufacturing industry. Specific experience with structural steel fabrication, construction and installation is considered an asset. Experience with the procurement process i.e., writing complex/detailed scopes of work and RFPs for manufacturers and other service providers as well as experience with developing detailed proposals/bids for a range of potential clients. Experience with estimating/costing projects, reading drawings/blueprints, negotiating contractual agreements, and leading a team to achieve quality outcomes is also required. Practical, first-hand knowledge of the construction industry is an asset.
