WELD UTILITY

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Same responsibilities as a weld technician to include:
Assists weld technicians in department when needed

Consistently demonstrate proficiency in multiple weld operations while maintaining a high level of safety, quality and productivity. The Weld Utility must be a team player who has demonstrated a willingness to be cross trained in multiple areas.

This position is responsible for working with the department Supervisors and Leads to meet daily requirements and drive efficient line operations. The person in this position will:

Follow standard work and train other employees to do the same

Coach new technicians to improve skills

Work with team to eliminate, prevent, and resolve quality issues

Work with the Carrier Excellence team and drive the 5S program

Drive Carrier Excellence culture, tools, and competency across the department

Ensure deployment and sustainment of Cx fundamentals on the site (Excellence Boards, Tier Reviews, Turnback Management, etc)

Possess a sense of urgency and demonstrated initiative to help department performance daily

Maintain a good attendance record (less than 30 points)

The Weld Utility will have thorough knowledge of departmental operations and must have demonstrated weld and process proficiency. This position must be able to back up weld technicians and Leads for any absenteeism. Other expectations of this role are:

Effective Communications with Supervisors, Team Leads and others regarding Safety, quality, workload capacity, staffing, and any other issues impacting production.

Solve problems on an ongoing basis and encourage the use of Cx Tools and methods that will help properly solve problems.

Assist Supervisor and Team Lead in coordinating quality control activities, implementing Work Standards, specifications and characteristics of the department processes to ensure that quality is built into each of the production processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
One-year length of service with Carrier

Must be 6G certified

Work history includes versatility, flexibility and ability to work well with others, as well as, independently

Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Willing to work overtime as needed

Knowledge of multiple weld and brazing operations are desired qualifications
