Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
As the CWB Weld Development Specialist, you will design and develop practical CWB welding training programs. You will identify, develop, and organize weld resources with cell leadership for welders required to participate in the classroom and/or on-the-job training (OJT).
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Develops curriculum and administers and maintains internal certification programs for weld processes outside current CWB certification.
Maintains the CWB certification program in Winnipeg by scheduling and administering recertifications as required.
Analyzes measures of performance relevant to the area of specialization, root cause and determiners if relevant training interventions are necessary.
Assists in defining performance requirements and standards, assesses current performance and identifies training and development needs for employees in the weld shop.
Provides support to the Weld Cell Team during the observation, creation and improvement efforts of standardized work instructions and procedure qualification records.
Ensures processes established by the New Flyer institute on course delivery including sign in sheets, course evaluations and materials are ready and prepared for practical training delivery.
Ensures the weld department is compliant with CWB codes and Company certification requirements
Observes all applicable safety requirements and reports immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Extensive knowledge of CWB weld certification/recertification requirements is required.
Grade 12 education or equivalent.
Welding Certification (Journeyman/CWB) or equivalent work experience.
CWB Supervisory Certification.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Welding role with a focus on OTJ training techniques.
Thorough knowledge of engineering weld drawings with an ability to interpret and apply in practical applications.
Knowledge of aluminum, stainless and carbon steel welding as well as manufacturing processes.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
Experience as an OJT trainer considered an asset.
