Your Opportunity:
This position reports to the Manager of Facilities Maintenance and Engineering and is responsible for the maintenance, installation and repair of equipment and building systems and the maintenance, repair, modifications and operation relative to the Preventative Maintenance System. Key responsibilities of this position would include fans, pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, vibration analysis, machine alignments and other mechanical equipment throughout the hospital complex. Performs a wide variety of journeyman level welding and repair duties. Responsibilities include participation in activities and initiatives aimed at promoting, maintain and improving quality and safety for patients, families and caregivers. The primary location will be at the Glenrose Hospital but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Potential multi-site duties as directed by the FM&E Director or Manager.

Description:
As an Industrial Mechanic/Welder, you will be responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance to a wide variety of building system equipment as well as equipment such as tube systems, food services and other related user equipment. You will also fabricate and install parts through the use of a lathe, milling machine or by the welding process.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Alberta Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) and Alberta Journeyman Welder certificate.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of Grade XII. Must possess an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Journeyman certificate and an Alberta Journeyman Welder certificate, with a Machinist Journeyman certificate as an asset. Good working knowledge of mechanical equipment. Must comply with Alberta Health Services regulations, policies and procedures. Must comply with Alberta OH&S Act, regulations and code. Must be able to work in physically demanding environments. Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to identify and prioritize maintenance needs. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal. Must have computer skills, knowledge about Microsoft programs, and building maintenance programs. The ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment is essential for this position. Must be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with management, supervisory staff and hospital co-workers.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least three (3) years’ experience working in a hospital or related institution as an asset.
