K & M Manufacturing Co., which began as K&M Manufacturing and Repair, was founded in 1958. Our first products were simple toolboxes and steps designed to make a farmers work easier and more productive in the field. In the early 60’s K&M expanded the product line to include replacement tractor seats.

From there, the product line has continued to grow to more than 2,500 innovative products like seats, suspensions, steps, mirrors, floor mats, cab foam kits, warning light systems, tool boxes, weight boxes and many more items. Our products are custom built for Allis Chalmers, Case IH, David Brown, Ford, International Harvester, John Deere, Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Minneapolis Moline, New Holland, Oliver White, Steiger and Versatile tractors and mowers.

The size of K&M has grown to over 32,000 square feet of production space and over 40,000 square feet of warehouse space for materials and finished products.

Basic Function: Welder II joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Requires the ability to accurately weld fabricated components and perform welds in all positions – flat, horizontal, vertical up and down. Additionally, Welder II may prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.

Essential Functions:

  • Produces high quality K & M products through wire feed welding.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
  • Sets up and operates various welding equipment.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Familiar with and complies with company and department safety and work practice policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
  • Accurately records material and job order transactions as directed.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective management.
  • Attends training as directed as apparent or assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as apparent or assigned

Secondary Functions:

  • Moves product using pallet jack or forklift (if certified)
  • Assists in the fabrication department as directed. Operates various machines as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

  • 3 years of welding experience or combination of vocational certification and equivalent experience.
  • Pass a Welder II test
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Requires ability to respond quickly to priority changes and work well under pressure due to scheduling constraints, and perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and communicate with other personnel in English.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work in a manner that promotes a safe working environment.
  • Ability to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ability to obtain equipment license or power equipment certification as required.
  • Ability to perform machinist duties when required.

Preferred

  • High School education or equivalent. Strongly preferred.

Machines/Equipment: In the course of performing this job typical welding equipment such as welders, torches, plasma cutters, grinders, etc. will be used.

Personal Protective Equipment Required:
