Position Summary

The Pipefitter Technician maintains, repairs, fabricates and sustains the operational efficiency of valve and piping systems throughout the plant, and cuts, prepares and fits up piping systems for welders.

Position Responsibilities

Maintaining, repairing, and fabricating valve and piping systems throughout the plant to maintain optimal operating efficiency.

Efficiently and safely utilizing hand tools and power tools associated with the trade such as overhead cranes, band saws, torque wrenches, threading machines, pipe wrenches, box end wrenches, grinders, etc.

Utilizing drawings or personal experience to cut, prep, and fit-up piping systems for welders.

Setting up and performing hydrostatic pressure tests.

Utilizing knowledge of rigging and rigging equipment to lift and manoeuvre piping and equipment into place.

Acting as relief pipefitter and welding supervisor when required.

Networking with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.

Being responsible for actively participating as an integral part of a Global team and as an integral part of a local team or committee.

Ensuring compliance with all Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) responsibilities, relative to the role, as per the PEIM Manual.

Undertaking all aspects of the role through living the Methanex values.

Remaining current with all safety and procedural training.

Conducting all business in a manner that supports the Responsible Care® ethic.

Position Qualifications

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Steamfitter/Pipefitter journeyman Red Seal certificate.

Class 5 driver’s license.

Relevant safety certifications.

Experience with overhead cranes and other lifting devices.

Knowledge of hand tools and power tools that are associated with the trade.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with various types of hand and power tools used within the industry.

Proficient knowledge of Layout and P&ID drawings.

Basic understanding of plant processes and operations.

Prior plant experience is an asset.
