Summary

The weld tech is responsible for fabrication and welds are being done by engineering drawings and meet quality and safety standards.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 6 months welding experience required

Welder 1 – 6 months or more

Welder 2 – 4 years or more

Welder – 15 years or more

Experience with MIG welding technique

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings containing weld symbols, work instructions, UL Standard, and written directions.

Ability to read and communicate in English.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of safe work practices.

Knowledge of welding machines, plasma equipment, torches and general manufacturing practices. Attention to detail.

Ability to communicate and discuss issues with peers and leaders.

Essential Functions

The weld techs main responsibility is to work with his team and be sure that they are as efficient as possible while keeping safety and quality a priority.

They will train in the proper use off power and pneumatic tools and their upkeep.

They will communicate with the production manager with concerns of material shortages and drawing deficiencies.

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift 40lbs and manipulate heavy test equipment and cables.

Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and PLC’s, protective relays, controllers, and other such equipment with small fine buttons and operators.

Required to stand and walk on manufacturing floor throughout the day.

Work Environment

The work environment associated with this role can take place either indoors or outdoors depending on the nature of the project.

Tolerance for various weather elements may be necessary.

This is an active manufacturing setting; at times it will be noisy, and equipment will be moving
