Position Summary

The Welding Technician—Robotics programs, develops, modifies and maintains Resistance, Projection, Drawn Arc and Mig Welding equipment. The individual will be responsible for setting-up, troubleshooting, and programming Robots and Weld Controllers.

Minimum Job Requirements

Grade 12 Education or GED

Community College Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering Technology – Welding and Robotics (3 year program) OR Completion of Karmax Welding and Robotics Technical Course Package

Skills and Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills

Able to perform various computer functions (Microsoft Office, Karmax Software, AutoCad)

Able to safely operate all Material Handling Equipment (Forklift, buggy) in assigned area of responsibility

Demonstrated ability to program, teach, trouble shoot and Develop Robotic Mig, Resistance, Drawn Arc and Projection Welding processes.

Demonstrated ability to program, teach, trouble shoot and set-up Servo Weld Guns.

Demonstrated ability to program, teach, trouble shoot and set-up line robots.

Demonstrated ability to program and troubleshoot Bosch, WTC, Emhart and Lincoln Weld controllers.

Job Responsibilities

Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.

Set-up Mig, Resistance, Drawn Arc and Projection Welding Equipment.

Perform general maintenance on welding equipment to ensure acceptable welding conditions and start-up requirements.

Monitor quality of welds.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining QMS documentation of Welding Set-ups.

Teaching Welding robots. (Mig, Spot, Drawn Arc and Projection Welding).

Able to troubleshoot Weld Controller Ethernet Systems

When filling in for production technician, utilize ANDON when encountering a quality issue or problem that hinders the completion of standardized work during cycle time

Respond to ANDON calls in a timely manner to address and diagnose issues. Coordinate containment of any suspect parts.

Plan and execute in-house projects and program launches.

Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement—3 P’s. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment

Perform other duties as required.

Additional Information

Starting rate: $34.35 /hour start rate

Shift premium of $1.00 for the afternoon shift and $1.25 for the night shift

Overtime premiums of 1.5x & 2x your hourly rate

Annual Increases
