Why Work for Us

Stuart Olson is currently seeking Rig Welders for a day shift and night shift with a March 9th/2023 start date for a short term project at our client site in Conklin, AB. Working 8 on, 6 off, 12 hours/shift schedule. Camp accommodations provided. Travel is not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to a given WPS.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Perform GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW welds.
  • Understand the importance of Consumable Storage and Maintenance.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Maintain safe work practices.
  • Follow a Step by Step Repair Plan.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.
  • Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman ticket
  • Valid GTAW (Tig) ticket
  • Valid B Pressure ticket
  • Rig Welder must provide their own Rig
  • Fall Arrest, mandatory
  • Confined Space and Entry Monitor, mandatory
  • H2S Alive, mandatory
  • CSO or CSTS 09, mandatory
  • WHIMIS, mandatory
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Drug and Alcohol testing

Working Conditions

  • Working at heights
  • Working in a confined space
  • Working in and around noise and dust
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots,

Physical Requirements

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
