Job Brief

Service Technician and Welder II is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling all heavy industrial oil field engine equipment as well as appropriating equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision.

Responsibilities

Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment including testing and diagnostics. Monitors, evaluates, and adjusts processes or equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.

Able to diagnosis simple and complex mechanic problems.

Assists other technicians with performing repairs and maintenance as needed.

Understand knowledge of oil field and engine equipment.

Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.

Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)

Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.

Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.

Weld components using manual welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)

Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.

Able to complete service jobs as required in a timely manner.

Effectively communicate with customers, co-workers and management.

Must follow all company policies and procedures.

Must attend training classes as required.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

2+ years’ experience with similar industrial equipment.

2 to 5 years of experienced welding specifically; MIG, stick—vertical, overhead, horizontal

Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.

Experience in cutting with handheld torch, plasma, and air arc.

Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)

Ability to fabricate with or without blueprints.

Must be capable of performing complex repairs correctly and safely in a shop environment.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proficient in the English language.

Working Conditions

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work long hours and weekends as needed.

Potential exposure to chemicals, coolants, fire hazards, dust, fumes, as well as high noise levels.

Physical requirements

Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

Must be able to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.

Must be able to reach, bend, push, lift, and climb continuously.

Reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
