Rush Truck Centres of Canada is always looking for good people to join our team.We are looking for a Welder for our location at 1035 Falconbridge Rd., Sudbury ON.

This position for Welder will be reporting directly to the Service Manager.

The position of Welder includes, but is not limited to production welding, service & repair welding, prototype building, and fitter welding. Responsibilities will include fuel-tank and card-lock repairs, the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings, fabrication of custom jigs and fixtures to produce production parts that meet customer specifications, as well as the fabrication of metal structures using jigs and fixtures in a high paced production environment.

The use of various hand tools, machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metal products. This position will work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, hitting quotas, welding according to pre-set parameters using MIG, ARC and TIG welding processes. The ability to scan in and out of work orders is a must. The Welder will perform random maintenance on returned products to be refurbished or re-worked to customer specifications, and have strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensure Policy. compliance of all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations, as well as the Company’s Health and Safety

Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.

Operate brazing and soldering equipment.

Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded

Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces

Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws

Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Repair Fuel Tanks.

Repair parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.

Maintain safe work practices.

Assist in development of repair estimates.

Conduct Technical Inspections.

Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits.

Conduct project review and planning.

Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.

Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.

Other assigned work as required.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent. College or post-secondary education is preferred.

Previous experience in Heavy Truck, Automotive or related industry experience preferred.

Proficiency with software and computers.

Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Criminal Record Check.

Valid driver’s license and Drivers Abstract.

Valid welding certification

Ability to work independently in a busy environment.

Experience with routine maintenance operations.

Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills

Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Strong attention to detail.

Computer literate.

Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

Overtime as required.

Hazards associated with the trade.

Hourly Wage Rate: $25.00 – $40.00 / hour
