- Maintain the manufacturing facility at required levels in terms of 5S, production flow and maintenance
- Ensure all shop employees wear proper PPE and clothing before working to safeguard against production hazards

Overview
Take ownership and accountability of leadership responsibilities As a leader, it is your job to guide others safely through their work tasks. Leadership
Ability to flex in multiple areas and bridge support when needed. Ability to manage multiple areas and have a good understanding of all major equipment within the plant.
Primary point of contact for hiring decisions Interviews, makes hiring decisions, and orientates new and temporary employees, ensuring all paperwork is properly completed and submitted. Involved in/Leads all shop floor personnel decisions, including terminations, furloughs, and lay-offs.
Engage and motivate employees to enhance production quantity and maintain high production Encourage positive, desirable behavior that improves the flow of the line through feedback, incentives, rewards and recognition. Encourage employees to develop innovative ideas that could improve current processes.
Build collaboration with the team Foster cooperation and collaboration in others through trust-building and relationships.

Provide leadership and oversight to manufacturing plant Provide leadership and oversight to manufacturing floor level staff, including accountability for performance against all project metrics including safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and training.
Manage production of shop personnel Ensure employees are working diligently to meet production goals and adhere to Harmon’s 5S visual management by motivating, answering questions and providing support when needed. Ensure maintenance on critical equipment is conducted regularly.
Production Management
Meet daily production goals Monitor the lines to ensure employees are working effectively. Plan work to meet weekly production goals (productivity and delivery), identifying root causes for variations of scheduled plan and address corrective measures.
Verify clear to build process for current and upcoming projects Verify that all project materials needed for current and upcoming production are on site and accounted for (clear to build process). Work with appropriate personnel, as needed.
Address delays and develop corrective measures needed to take Determine the root cause of issues on the lines and develop a plan to resolve issues and communicate to the team when applicable. Proactively communicate schedule changes to project team utilizing appropriate channels. Prioritize daily work schedule when there are conflicting demands.
Attend daily Tier 2 meeting Review quality updates, production goals, previous targets, safety updates, and expected arrival of materials with appropriate leaders and office staff.
Provide oversight and leadership for Tier 1 meetings Hold Team Leaders accountable for accuracy and completeness of data as well as results on Tier 1 boards.
Perform daily audits of key performance indicators Perform daily audits of all shop-floor departments ensuring key performance goals are being met. Manage performance against key metrics through tier meeting discussions with leadership.
Approve time cards Provide final review and approval of personnel time cards and time sheets weekly.
Partner with HR Work with Manufacturing HR Business Partner to plan and recruit for required manpower, including recruitment strategies as well as employee relation issues.
Coordinate with Production Coordinators Work closely with Production Coordinators to monitor material inventory (inbound and outbound) for active and upcoming projects, verifying that inventory is maintained at proper levels. Verify all engineering documents have been received and reviewed (including paperwork, drawings, cut lists, etc.) before sending to the shop floor.
Manage labor allocations Manage labor allocations against established budgets to ensure unallocated labor is maintained at or below plan levels.
Regulate workload based on daily production goals Ensure people are balanced in appropriate work stations to complete daily production goals. Ensure fabrication has necessary equipment in place to meet production needs.
Oversee maintenance tasks Oversee maintenance and repairs of building and equipment performed by internal and external resources.
Assist in managing shop cost In conjunction with the Plant Manager, manage and control shop costs related to supplies, repair and maintenance, and safety against established budgets. Assist in obtaining proper approvals prior to proceeding with overhead and capital purchases.
Identify ways to improve production process Develop best practices that provide the most effective flow for the project to run. Incorporate input from the team to ensure the most valuable ideas are being utilized.
Lead and participate in kaizen process improvement projects Lead and participate in the kaizen (structured problem solving) process. Time, effort and resources needed depend on the magnitude of issue required to be resolved. Lead processes in which you are responsible for overseeing. Support larger initiatives. Identify Kaizen pipeline in conjunction with Plant Manager and Team Leaders.
Participate and drive company continuous improvement, engage employees in initiatives Participate and drive our continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for streamlining work and reducing cost and waste. Motivate employees to participate in improving their workplace both physically and financially.
Assist in the creation and development of standard work instructions Work closely with Team Leaders to develop, update, maintain and utilize standard work for shop floor leaders and production processes. Describe the purpose of the work instruction and how to complete specific tasks in the most efficient and safest manner while achieving the highest quality. Decide on formatting and ensure the document is short, simple and clear.
Quality Management
Encourage Continuous Improvement Champion shop employees to Continuous Improvement efforts through leading by example. Apply Continuous Improvement principles in your own work performance and drive Continuous Improvement application in the company’s operations.
Ensure the most quality product is created. Analyze processes to identify redundancies and workflow inhibitors; restructure processes to improve quality of service.
Develop and manage quality systems and processes Hold Team Leaders accountable for addressing safety, quality and delivery issues. Lead the team to addresses quality issues though root cause analysis and other problem solving CI tools.
Safety Management
Ensure shop safety and safe working conditions are always being met Ensure all employees follow safety policies and procedures put in place to identify risks in the workplace. Ensure all employees have received proper training to eliminate the potential for injuries within the workplace. Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order. Establish an environment that encourages open communication to report safety events when observed.
Attend local Safety Committee Attend Safety Committee meeting, which includes a group of employees that meet regarding safety conditions within the shop, develop action plans and promote positive safe work conditions.
Leads safety and OSHA compliance Lead safety and OSHA compliance by modeling safe behaviors, holding employees accountable to safe work practice standards, and investigating unsafe operations and practices. Work to remedy unsafe conditions immediately. Partner with Manufacturing Safety Manager to create a safe and compliant work environment for employees.
Conduct incident investigations Participate in, review, and sign off on all incident investigations and reports. Drive to root cause on safety issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Lead the development of Job Hazard Analysis Focus on the relationship between the worker, task, tools, and work environment to identify proactive measures to prevent job hazards.
Attend “flex & stretch” meetings Attend a meeting at the beginning of each shift in which employees engage in specific exercises that help them loosen muscles that are vital to completing their daily job functions.
Regulate certification in operating cranes and forklifts Regulate training and certification in operating cranes and forklifts based on OSHA requirements.
