WELDER (Temporary)

Richmond (Fleet Maintenance Unit)

Working as a team player, you are a responsible self-starter with strong technical and interpersonal abilities. You plan, supply, maintain, and perform the welding and fabrication needs of BC Ferries vessels, vehicles, berths and shipyard structures.

You perform welding and fabrication set-up and preparation, while coordinating work with other trades and contractors. You plan work, prepare sketches, calculate measurements, order materials and estimate the resources required to complete the job. You provide a ‘lead hand’ role for new employees and helpers; including input in performance assessment and perform additional duties as required.

You have a thorough understanding of Industry standards, WCB regulations and safe work practices. You hold a ‘B’ Level Welding Certificate, as well as a minimum 3 years’ related experience, with at least 1 year welding fabrication experience, preferably in the marine industry. A valid BC driver’s licence is required as moderate travel throughout the fleet is required.
