Backyard Escape Studios is a fast-growing company that creates modern garden sheds and all-season studios for clients across Ontario. We are a small business in need of a labourer with manual labour or construction experience. The job would include working in the shop pre-fabricating various components of our structures as well as going out on installs to build up our structures. We have a great core team and need someone new who is eager to learn and take on responsibilities to help us grow our business.

We are seeking a team player with integrity, teachability, and a strong work ethic. Construction experience is preferred, but we can train you provided you have some experience with manual labour and power tools. Ideally you would be paired with one of our lead installers and learn from them on roughly 2 installs a week while filling the remaining 3 days in the shop, however this schedule will fluctuate at times.

Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to lift heavy objects are essential to success in this position.

Job Duties:

  • Framing/sheathing structures according to technical drawings
  • Using power tools, mitre saws, and tables saws to prefabricate various shed and studio components
  • Staining/painting wood siding, outriggers, and doors
  • Loading/unloading trailers
  • Constructing prefabricated sheds and studios on site

Requirements:

  • Experience with power tools and manual labour
  • Effective verbal and listening skills
  • Commitment to quality and safety
  • Valid G License (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently but also take direction from a team leader
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 100lbs assisted, stand and walk for long periods, work up to 12-hour days when required
  • Forklift experience is an asset
  • The ability to drive a truck with a trailer is an asset

Work Conditions:

  • Safety boots must be worn
  • Appropriate dust masks/ safety glasses must be worn for specific tasks
  • You will be required to operate a variety of hand and power tools safely
  • Repeatedly lifting heavy objects
  • The shop can be a dusty and loud environment
  • Stamina is required for some long, physically demanding days

Compensation:

Pay starts from$19.00 – 22.00 Depending on Experience. A raise will be given on completion of 30 days with good attendance. Reliability, a positive attitude, and eagerness to learn will be rewarded.

Schedule:

Shop days will be 7:30am – 4:00pm

Installs vary depending on location and project type with start times between 5:00am and 7:00am and end times between 3:00pm and 7:00pm
