Overview

Ebco Industries Ltd. is looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team. This role is critical to the reputation that Ebco has built for delivering world-class quality manufacturing. You will be responsible for estimating a wide range of Ebco’s opportunities, anywhere from $50,000 to $10,000,000+. The Estimator will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labor, while maintaining good relationships with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.

We deliver world-class quality manufacturing and repair and rebuild services to projects based domestically and worldwide. Our strengths encompass the complete spectrum from heavy metal fabrication, heavy machining, turnkey assembly to light precision machining and fabrication as well as precision sheet metal fabrication. Our customers range from small and/or start-up companies to world class suppliers of OEM capital equipment and machinery. Our headquarters and manufacturing facility is located in Richmond, B.C. Canada.

KEY DUTIES

  • Prepare detailed estimates for labour, material and subcontract costs, analyzing each section for scope, accurate pricing and completeness
  • Submitting estimations in a timely manner to the sales department
  • Collaborate with shop managers, floor personnel, and relevant stakeholders in preparing competitive bids
  • Interpret customer drawings to ensure all specifications and notes are understood
  • Understanding Ebco’s strengths and capabilities to better assess whether to proceed with an estimate or not
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers and coworkers by developing solutions that align with their requirements and budget
  • Create BOMs in order to properly ascertain costs
  • Provide support for on-going projects to the project managers who will use your estimations as a baseline for creating the manufacturing plans and risk assessments
  • Interact with production and quality-assurance personnel to clarify any machining/fabricating concerns that could increase estimated costs
  • Build close vendor relationships and demonstrate strong results stemming from those relationships
  • Work in a mixture of both office and job shop environment
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years’ experience in metal machining and fabrication estimating
  • Hands-on experience in metal machining and fabrication is a strong asset (ie. welder, fitter, machinist, etc.)
  • Use of ERP software; Infor Visual, JobBoss, Microsoft Dynamics Sage, or equivalent
  • Microsoft office software: Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerBi, PowerPoint, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Highly skilled in interpreting blueprints, GD&T symbols, weld/machining symbols
  • B.Eng. EIT or P.Eng and/or PMP designation is an asset
  • Understanding of metal machining and fabrication North American standards
  • Ability to create DXFs is an asset
  • Ability to review previous cost estimates, learn from them, and improve future estimates to be more in line with in house efficiencies
  • Experience creating cost models for fabrication and machining is an asset
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English; second language is an asset
  • Must be a motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Open, honest, reliable and solutions driven
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to accommodate flexible working hours when needed
