Job Purpose

The Apprentice Pipefitters/Welder main purpose of is to assist the Journeyman on all tasks, while also maintaining responsibility for the usage, safety and reliability of rigging equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Layout and mark piping for cutting
  • Displays a commitment to Academy’s safety program, values, and culture
  • May be required to operate hoisting and lifting equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Familiar with safe work practices
  • Attaching loads to rigging equipment to provide support or prepare them for moving
  • Inspect and log daily rigging inspections
  • Assisting with general site clean-up
  • Organize rigging equipment after use
  • Receive instructions on priority jobs and complete accordingly
  • Ensure finished loads meet all safety and legal requirements
  • Follows and meets schedules
  • Attend toolbox meetings
  • Report personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required
  • May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma required
  • Basic and/or Advanced Rigging course preferred
  • CSTS-09
  • WHMIS

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of related experience considered required
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation

Skills

  • Hands on mechanical aptitude
  • Motivation to work hard and get tasks done

Salary: $27.00-$40.50 per hour
