The Position

Norcada is currently looking for candidates to fill a “MEMS Fabrication Process Technologist” position within its MEMS Manufacturing group. The candidate will be working in a semiconductor clean-room environment to carry out microfabrication and wafer processing work to support the company’s production and R&D activities.

This position reports to our device manufacturing director who oversees production of our established microscopy/spectroscopy products as well as our in-situ technology solutions. We are seeking individuals with technician level education and experience who can support our MEMS processing, manufacturing, and device qualification. This is a full time, permanent position and provides medical and pension benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

– Operate various processing equipment to support production and R&D
– Optical inspection, quality control and assurance (QC/QA)
– Other wafer processing related tasks
– Work closely with the team Leader, Product Engineers and Process Techs for quality control and device qualifications
– Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism that is required from employees of a trusted high-tech brand

Qualifications and Experience

– A college diploma or degree in Nano Tech, Chemical Tech, Cleanroom Tech, Physics, and or Engineering. 2- or 4-year degrees will be accepted.
– Cleanroom work experience is highly sought in this position
– Experience in characterization techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical microscopy, ellipsometry, and profilometry
– Has basic training and experience in MEMS or Semiconductor fabrication
– Ability to learn new tools quickly in a fast-paced high-tech environment
– Manual dexterity and fine mechanical aptitude

The Ideal Candidate

– Has excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Good command of English, both written and verbal, is essential
– Has the ability to work independently and in cooperation with team members
– Hands-on experience in characterization of MEMS or Semiconductor devices.
– Hands-on experience in microfabrication techniques including UV and e-beam lithography, PVD and CVD deposition (sputtering, evaporation, PECVD, ALD, etc), Wet and plasma etching (metal and semiconductor wet etching, ICP/RIE, DRIE, etc).
– Is detail-oriented and organized
– Preferably lives within the greater Edmonton Area
