Company description
We are a family owned welding shop located in Wainwright, AB. We provide welding and radiator repair services to farmers, oilfield companies, and more. We strive to provide quality service in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. We are looking for either a Journeyman Welder or 3rd/4th year apprentice to join us. Our shop is open everyday of the week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are closed on STAT Holidays and weekends. Some overtime may occur in busier months. Starting wage will be dependent on experience and qualifications, with raises being given upon proven quality of work and reliability. Job description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operating manual and semi-automatic welding equipment.
- Reading and interpreting welding process specifications, blue prints, drawing specifications, and manuals
- Welding, cutting, and grinding various types of metal
- Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.
- Work with a caustic tank to repair radiators is an asset, but training will be provided to the right candidate.
- Determine the weld ability of materials and demonstrate welding and fitting capabilities
- Abiding by all safety standards, reporting hazards, and using proper PPE
- Effectively communicating with team members and customers
- Spray painting as needed
- Other duties as assigned, and/or requested by the customer
- Operate a picker, loader, and a forklift, are assets to this work site. Training will be provided to the right candidate
- Examine welds to make sure they meet standards and/or specifications
- Organize and keep work area and equipment clean and functional, perform general house keeping daily and clean up work area daily
- Participate in Safety training and meetings as required
Assets:
- Experience cutting, welding, grinding, bending different types of metals.
- Capable of working in a team or independently. Being able to follow instructions and complete work in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and listening required
- Proven attention to detail and ability to develop good working relationships with co-workers and customers, a positive attitude is a must
- Ability to problem solve. Mechanically inclined, able to use various tools and equipment necessary to complete jobs
Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities:
We have a busy shop environment. The workload can be physically demanding, for example: repetitive tasks, working above or below equipment, standing/kneeling/bending for extended periods of time, handling heavy loads, and/or working from heights. Occasionally there may be off-site work.
Training & Certifications:
- Must have or be working toward a valid welder trade credential such as CWB or ABSA Alberta B
- WHMIS 2015
- Alberta Standard First Aid is preferred but not required
- H2S Alive is an asset but not a requirement
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Fall Protection/Working from Heights is an asset but not a requirement
