STRUCTURAL FITTER
SUMMARY
A Structural Fitter at Lopes prepares structural metal products for welding and riveting. They position parts by hand or use cranes and hoists to position them. They know how much to allow for the effects of heat and shrinkage on metal. Ensures quality products are being produced and maintains a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using
straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers from supplied Blueprints or
instruction.
· Ensures control of final assembled product in order to maintain specified standards and
quality (I.e: Dimensional checks; checks items for gouges, notches, or any other damage).
· Understands and follows welding related standards and specifications.
· Performs fitting tasks in a timely manner.
· Keep working area organize and clean.
· Identify and use appropriate welding technique to the appropriate job.
· Ensures high level of cleanliness and organization in their working stations/areas.
· Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or
hand tools.
· Mindset geared towards safety (I.e. equipment safety verification, use of PPE, etc.).
· Other duties and tasks as required by supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Completed trade schooling or demonstrated equivalent general industrial aptitude.
- 2+ years as a Structural Fitter experience required.
- Ability to work productively, independently, and in a team environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job drawings.
- Flexible, self-motivated, and driven to achieve customer satisfaction goals and targets.
- Basic computer literacy for completion of applicable documentation and training.
- Ability to communicate and read in English.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move frequently, stand up and walk for extended period of time and sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.
