The Opportunity
Reporting to the Academic Chair, the School of Manufacturing, Automation & Transportation is looking to hire an Instructor to teach within the Structural Ironworker program and to do yard supervision within the Crane program. This is a Temporary salaried position for a Journeyperson Ironworker to meet the growing demand for both programs.
The incumbent is accountable for promoting a positive and interactive learning environment with hands-on learning. In addition, you will work with students and faculty by attending recruitment initiatives and school events, and maintain strong industry relationships. You should enjoy a challenge, possess strong technical skills and be an excellent communicator who works well in a collaborative team environment.

The Role
Instruct high level courses to mature learners
Maintain a student-first centered philosophy
Work well in a team environment
Prepare and present lectures and labs
Develop course outlines, profiles and curriculum
Participate in curriculum and program reviews
Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
Evaluate student progress and achievement
Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
Oversee lifting and hoisting operations in our yard
Promote and educate about our programs through Open House, Info-sessions, Career Fairs and Youth Initiatives as needed
Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
Qualifications & Experience
Must hold a Journeyperson and Red Seal Certificate as an Ironworker. Structural Ironworker is preferred, but Reinforcing Ironworker or Journeyperson MBSE Ironworker with structural experience will be considered.
Red Seal or Journeyperson tickets in Boom Truck, Mobile Crane, Welding or other related trade considered an asset
Prior teaching experience is an asset, formal teaching education is an asset
Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint considered an asset
Strong time management and organizational skills
Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others
Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
Possess a positive, respectful attitude, and a high commitment to student success and collaboration

Salary range: $84,127.00 – $92,833.00
