Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic / GAS fitter G2 individual is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems and for ensuring maximum production quantity and quality while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Screening Criteria: The ideal candidate needs to complete a High School education. It’s preferable has education and/or training in the industrial maintenance field, the successful applicant must possess skills or knowledge in the following areas: Repairs and maintains washers, driers, extractors, condensers, pumps, blowers, presses, and other laundry equipment: Operates, examines and dismantles equipment to diagnose the cause of malfunction. Perform routine preventive maintenance under the preset maintenance program to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, the machines continue operating in high performance better or equal than before. Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments and reassemble equipment.
Replaces mechanics components, such as bearings, motors, gearmotors, microswitches, sensors, rollers, chains, sprockets, belts, etc. Replaces pneumatics components faulty sections of pipe, valves and fittings. Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions. Removes faceplate from equipment to clean out dust and lint. Replaces worn or torn aprons, roll covers, filters and pads. Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using grease gun and oil cans. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogues as necessary. To be capable of following the instructions of maintenance routines and record the maintenance and repairs work performed
Plan and layout repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams. Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs, suppliers, manufacture manuals, or obtain them from storerooms. Responsible to maintain and sign off on maintenance reports for all equipment. Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, callipers, micrometres, and other measuring instruments. And other activities related to the maintenance duties description.Competencies & Skills. The successful candidate must present: Good skill in the use of hand and power tools. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Maintain, repair equipment and machinery found in cafeterias, offices, and washrooms. Problem-solving skills Quick report status about the machines to the internal client Ability to successfully complete all required on the job training (eg: Health & Safety, manuals, etc.)

Hours of Work:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the applicant must be able to work on workdays, overtime, on weekends, rotating shifts and be able to change shifts as required to complete maintenance tasks when necessary, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.Experience / Qualification / Skills:

Mechanical repairs to the dryers, dryer conveyors, and ancillary control systems .Mechanical repairs to motors and gearing systems

gas train (G2 Level) diagnostic and repair work

Ignition, ventilation, testing and calibrations

Must be capable with multimeter and manometer

Must be supportive of other team members in execution of collective project based demands

  • Have a minimum of three years previous mechanical experience in the industrial maintenance field; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in a GAS./Millwright capacity preferred. Experience in the maintenance of laundry equipment an asset. Must be knowledgeable of the pneumatic systems including cylinders, valves, understand their general application and drawing reading. Basic computer knowledge in a Windows based environment is preferred.
