Job Description

Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and specifications

May be trained to operate stud welder, angle master, ironworker, plate shear, crimper, channel cutters, cross bridging, and saws

Enter data into machine to set specs for cutting, crimping and punching

Adjust the machine to cut material to proper length

Cut angle/channel according to specifications found on cutting bills

Move materials to appropriate areas with crane or buggy

Will be trained to weld shoes, clips, boxes as needed

Perform operator scheduled maintenance on machinery on a regular basis

Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties

Comply with all legislated and company’s health, safety, environmental, quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs

Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Computer literacy (able to program and operate CNC machines)

Excellent mathematical calculation and logical thinking

Ability to turn, lift, twist the angles on a regular basis

Ability to prioritize and organize work as it requires constant coordination with production line

Ability to operate overhead cranes

Ability to read a tape measure and cut bills

Ability to work independently

Must be a team-player

Ability to work overtime as and when needed

Willingness to move to day shift if needed for training or coverage of leaves

Physically able to lift up to 50 lb. routinely

Pay range $ 27.84 – $29.41 (based on experience) + shift premium of $1.25/h

Scheduled hourly pay rate increase July 1 per collective agreement

Afternoon shift: 4:00 pm to 12:30 am

Initial training and onboarding conducted on the day shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm)

Physical Demands: The nature of this position also requires the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities, ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (50-70lbs), to sitting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling with repetitive hand and finger movements. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

Work Environment: The employee constantly works near moving electrical components and mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to welding fumes and airborne particles. The employee may also be at risk of experiencing flash burns, skin burns, electrical shocks and high noise levels. Personal Protective Equipment must always be worn (including, but not limited to: CSA approved safety boots, safety eyewear, earplugs).
