We are growing and looking for an experienced Fabrication & Estimating Supervisor to join our team! The candidate will work closely with both our shop and administration team and report to the Business Manager and/or President.
This role will focus heavily on the Fabrication and Estimating job functions, responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation received and to prepare estimates for preparation time, cost, and labour estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methods, techniques, or processes. Interfaces with support teams and client contacts to achieve detailed and accurate estimates. Review’s data to determine material and labour requirements and prepares itemized material lists.
The above requires motivation, drive, previous industry experience and a result driven attitude. Collaborating, taking ownership and solid supervisory skills are essential in this role.
Position elements include:
- Supervising the estimating and drawing process flow
- Estimating projects as assigned
- Establish quantity takeoffs and bills of materials
Support projects with estimating and scheduling needs, as required
- Day-to-day project oversight and communication with the shop, office and customer
- Participate in applicable meetings
- Conduct site visits as required
- Plan, organize, and ensure job tasks are moving efficiently
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Manage fabrication projects to competition. Supervise welders to ensure quality standards and delivery targets are met in collaboration with the shop supervisor
- Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, meeting customer delivery expectations
- Ensure compliance with CWB regulations according to customer and company Quality Manual Standards and Blueprints through the use of documentation, maintenance and development on all fabrications
- Develop, track, update, forecast and modify the work schedule through to job completion, ensuring leadership team is informed of progress
- Customer service focused (serving internal and external customers), with frequent status updates on deliverables and timelines
- Flexibility with working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritizing schedules, deliverables, and customer needs
Position requirements:
- Solid understanding of steel fabrication, structural fabrication, welding, machining, and metal fabrication
- Shop floor experience, specifically operating shop equipment
- Safety oriented, including and not limited to following H&S policies and demonstrating safety is a priority
- Strong analytical skills
- Solid knowledge of labour hours required in custom fabrication
- Advanced excel skills, AutoCAD experience is required, and knowledge of Inventor is an asset
- Team oriented, willing to help out in all areas
- Customer-focused mindset
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Willing to take on training, learn new skills and grasp development opportunities, motivated to continually build knowledge as well as sharing expertise with others.

Educational Criteria:
- 3-5 years previous experience as a Fabrication Supervisor & Estimator in a similar industry, (Fabrication, Aggregate or similar industry)
- Post-secondary education in Engineering or related discipline (College or University).
- Industry specific training is an asset
