Overview

The Fitter’s primary purpose is to analyze and interpret blueprints of designs.Then they are required to fit and tack design metal effectively, so it can be welded in a later process.

Key Responsibilities:

· Analyze and interpret blueprint drawings.

· Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.

· Set up components for fitting according to specifications.

· Fit and tack metal according to design.

· Set up components for welding according to specifications.

· Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.

· Align components using calipers, rulers, and clamp pieces.

· Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments in various positions.

· Adhere and Enforce Health and Safety Standards and Company Policies.

· Maintain a clean work area through effective housekeeping.

Required Qualifications:

· Strong ability to analyze and interpret blueprint drawings of designs.

· Proven experience as a fitter, 5-7 years – Preferred.

· Extensive experience and exposure to welding activities in the manufacturing sector.

· Extensive experience working with CAD/CAM.

· Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

· Good physical coordination.

Education:

· Highschool Diploma – Required.

· Completion from an accredited college/apprenticeship welding program.

Experience:

· Extensive experience and exposure to welding activities in the manufacturing sector.

· Technical background and technical knowledge of the welding industry.

· 2-3 years of welding experience – Preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

· Familiarity with both the mechanical and physical properties of metal.

· Welding/Fitting skills.

· Excellent knowledge of various welding equipment and processes.

· Time Management skills.

· Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints.

· Active listening skills.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Leadership skills.

Working Environment:

· Manufacturing workshop conditions.

· Exposure to dust, dirt, heat, noise, and vibration.

· Standing for long periods of time.

· Travel – none.

· Overtime as needed.
