QUALITY INSPECTOR, WELDING – CONTRACT

Location: Cambridge, ON (Onsite)

Hourly Pay: $30.00 – $38.00 per hour + Afternoon Shift Premium

Shift: Days or Afternoons

Contract Duration: 12 months

Role Overview

Eclipse Automation is seeking a certified Welding Quality Inspector for a long-term contract opportunity with our nuclear team in Cambridge, ON. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector Welding will perform inspections of weldment according to defined criteria and worked with production management to provide feedback regarding the accuracy of welding procedures.

The ideal candidate will be open to working days and afternoons. The afternoon shift operates on a four, 10-hour shift work week, with an additional shift premium of $2.50 per hour.

The Quality Inspector Welding job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Quality Engineers and Quality Manager to determine best practices to control quality on the manufacturing/assembly floor.
  • Prepare weld map per weldment drawing.
  • Inspect welded joints for visible defects, correct dimensions, bead formation and conformance with drawing specification. Examine joints to detect flaws such as cracks, cold weld, spatter and undercut.
  • Document inspection results by completing weld inspection reports and logs; inputting data into quality database.
  • Coordinate with NDE inspector, identify sample weld joints for NDE inspection per contract technical specification requirements.
  • Perform Stud weld qualification according to CSA W59 on daily basis.
  • Participate in a welding monitoring program to ensure welding been done correctly.
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met. Notify the appropriate departments if milestones are not met.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • CSA W178.2 Level 1 certification is required.
  • 2 years weld inspection experience on construction project build under CSA W59
  • Ability to establish priorities and work without supervision.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible to work on different shifts (days and afternoons).
