Skills for Steel Program – Training Opportunity for Entry Level CSA Welding Positions in the Steel Industry

YMCA of Hamilton Burlington Brantford

Location: Niagara & Surrounding Area, ON

The YMCA (HBB) in partnership with Salit Steel & Niagara College have teamed together to design a comprehensive free employment training program specifically for CSA, entry-level, welding positions in the Niagara area.

The training is free and there is *No experience necessary to apply!

This is what you’ll receive with your FREE training:

· Employment readiness courses (Essential & Soft Skills Training) – as identified as a need by employers in your region

· A variety of technical knowledge and practical training to prepare you to work in the Steel Industry

· Potential paid work experience with one of our local employer partners upon successful completion

· Continued assistance from a dedicated Employment Coach with your job search, job retention, referrals to resources and educational upgrading (if applicable) for a full year to ensure your success

· Financial Supports may be available to facilitate your participation in the course

· Required PPE to be purchased by YMCA (HBB)

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY |

· Unemployed or working 20 hours/week or less

· Interested in pursuing a career in the steel sector

· Not currently participating in any other full-time training, education, or any other government training program offering funding

· Resident of Ontario and legally entitled to work in Canada

· 18 years of age or older

· Access to reliable transportation

· Committed to attending and completing assigned training in a timely manner – Ability to meet deadlines

· Access to reliable internet

· Access to reliable transportation

· Dedicated to keeping open communication through phone calls and emails throughout training and for a year upon completion of the program

Salary: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
