Overview
We are currently looking to fill the position of Welder “A”. Welder A’s set-up, operate and maintain machinery and equipment. They perform precision welding operations. Strong mechanical aptitude is necessary.
The Welder “A” must be provincially or inter-provincially licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or an equivalent agency. Licensing is usually accomplished by attending a recognized college or welding specific trades program and participating in an apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities and duties will vary with the welders developed areas of specialization. The Welder A will demonstrated skills in areas such as: disassembly/ assessment/ repair type skills, base metal identification, the determination of optimal tooling, selection of manual or semi-automatic welding, sub arc and burning tools, selection of optimal welding machine amp and welding procedures and data sheets, proper use of preheat and post heat, set-up requirements may include part or product evaluations, jig or fixture design & fabrication, and development of set-up documentation.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
· Strong mechanical aptitude;
· Effective communication & interpersonal skills;
· Secondary school graduate with grade 12 mathematics;
· Provincial or inter-provincial license by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities or an equivalent agency preferred.
· Candidates must demonstrate the competencies outlined by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Welding trades guidelines;
· Must have CWB flat & horizontal flux core and overhead SMAW stick welding tickets as a minimum;
· Preference will be given to candidates who have 4 or more years welding experience in the fabrication and repair of Bristol type products.
