Overview
The Opportunity:
As a Welder / NDT Technician you will play a key role on the mine maintenance reliability team, directly supporting mine maintenance goals and objectives. In this role, you will collaborate and work alongside field maintenance crews to ensure that all inspections and weld repairs are performed with quality workmanship in a safe and efficient manner. Inspections will include MPI, LPI and Ultrasonic technics.
You will utilize your industrial welding experience to focus on the inspection and repair for designated heavy equipment including but not limited to:
- Bucyrus 495 HF Shovels
- Hitachi EX8000&EX2500 Excavators
Key Accountabilities:
- Help plan and perform inspections in a safe and efficient manner
- Provide technical assistance and expertise to various welding repairs
- Deliver safe, efficient and quality workmanship with inspections
- Identify and acquire the necessary resources to complete tasks
- Ensure that potential warrantee work is identified and documented as per regulations
- Support Turnaround and Project activities within the mine maintenance team
Other Details:
- Job location: Albian Oil Sands – Fort McMurray, Alberta
- Candidate may be eligible for relocation to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort McMurray
- Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton

Skills & Qualifications:
- Typically, 5+ years of related industry experience with Grade 12 or GED
- Welder Journeyman Certificate in Alberta and/or an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Industrial welding
- Heavy Equipment Maintenance
- Non–destructive testing both MPI and UT
- Computer based Mine Maintenance Planning Program
- Microsoft Office Suite
