Overview
Responsibilities
Ability to read and interpret welding instructions from documents, sketches, drawings or verbal direction for the fabrication of engineered components of pipe and structural steel materials.
Capable of certifying on welding processes GTAW / SMAW / GMAW / FCAW using company approved welding procedure specifications (WPS).
Manually guides electrode or torch along weld line per WPS.
Visual examines all welds made to assure they are acceptable to job project weld criteria.
Repairs/cleans all nonconforming welds with various tools and equipment.
Moves parts into position manually or by hoist, cranes, jigs, fixtures, clamps and jacks.
Cuts, bends, shape pipe and steel with various tools and equipment.
Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
Performs minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools, equipment and facility.
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing personal safety equipment.
Ability to perform work activities with minimum supervision.
Performs other duties and activities as required.
Requirements
High School diploma or GED or completion of a welding certification/trade/training program.
Proven experience as Welder with 5+ years TIG/stick experience.
Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures.
Set-up and operate various types of arc-welding and cutting equipment.
Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.).
Plan work and select proper tools.
Able to take and pass company standard welding test.
