1st Class Fitter/Welder

A 1st Class Fitter/Welder prepares and welds pipe and fittings or structural components for various material types as specified by construction drawings and technical guidance documents.

The ideal candidates for the position must have:
A minimum of 6 months of ship fitting and welding experience.

Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings or other guidance documents.

Possesses in-depth knowledge of craft-specific processes and techniques.

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to accurately perform layout, cutting with a torch, metric measuring (i.e. cm, mm, etc.) and structural fitting processes by successfully passing a hands-on craft test.

Must successfully demonstrate the ability to pass a hands-on 3G/4G Fluxcore (FCAW) welding test with the 3G position welded with uphill progression and 4G welded entirely in the overhead position.
