Overview
Our client is looking for a 1st or 2nd year Welder Apprentice to join their team to contribute to high quality, on-time delivery of products in a safe and professional manner, by maintaining high quality workmanship and meeting CWB and Company standards. This position reports to the Shop Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow directions given by supervisor or in layouts, drawings and work orders
- Maintain high quality of workmanship
- Ensure best use of consumable supplies
- Understand Company Standard Weld Procedures
- Make sure that all equipment is used and maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications
- Responsible for assuring productivity and quality standards are consistently met
- Ensure that your time is allocated correctly to jobs
- Conduct work safely in accordance with Company policies and procedures
- Ensure any issues or recommendations concerning safety, productivity and quality are raised to your supervisor
- Perform regular housekeeping and maintain a safe and clean work area
- Participate in Safety Program including Audits and Meetings
- Participate and promote Continuous Improvement Activities
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficient in SMAW, GMAW, MCAW welding in all positions
- Training and competency in cutting and grinding structural steel
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
- Ability to work with little direction or supervision
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand English (verbal and written) instructions. Positive attitude towards new challenges
- Lift approximately 50 lbs
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $18.00-$23.00 per hour

Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Welding: 1 year (preferred)
