Overview

Our client is looking for a 1st or 2nd year Welder Apprentice to join their team to contribute to high quality, on-time delivery of products in a safe and professional manner, by maintaining high quality workmanship and meeting CWB and Company standards. This position reports to the Shop Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow directions given by supervisor or in layouts, drawings and work orders
  • Maintain high quality of workmanship
  • Ensure best use of consumable supplies
  • Understand Company Standard Weld Procedures
  • Make sure that all equipment is used and maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications
  • Responsible for assuring productivity and quality standards are consistently met
  • Ensure that your time is allocated correctly to jobs
  • Conduct work safely in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure any issues or recommendations concerning safety, productivity and quality are raised to your supervisor
  • Perform regular housekeeping and maintain a safe and clean work area
  • Participate in Safety Program including Audits and Meetings
  • Participate and promote Continuous Improvement Activities

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in SMAW, GMAW, MCAW welding in all positions
  • Training and competency in cutting and grinding structural steel
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination
  • Ability to work with little direction or supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand English (verbal and written) instructions. Positive attitude towards new challenges
  • Lift approximately 50 lbs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $18.00-$23.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

  • Innisfail, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

  • Welding: 1 year (preferred)
