Founded in 1991 as an overhead bridge crane service and company, CRS CraneSystems has since evolved into a market leading, full-service crane manufacturer. We have an extensive maintenance service and parts business, a diversified customer base, and ISO 9001 certification. We have experience in complex, diverse and challenging sectors and industries including oil and gas, mining, power generation, manufacturing, forestry, pulp, paper, steel, light metals, and cement. In addition to selling cranes directly to end-users, CRS works with some of the world’s largest engineering and construction management companies and attributes its growth and success to its reputation for providing only the highest quality of work and on time delivery.

CRS operates out of an 26,000 square foot facility located in Sherwood Park, Alberta in one of North Americas largest crane manufacturing facilities. Additional sales and service branches are in Calgary, Alberta; Langley, British Columbia; and Mississauga, Ontario.

Since 1991, we have been producing and supporting cranes for locations throughout North America, Central America, South America, and Africa. We are hiring for an Third Year Apprentice Welder for our Sherwood Park location to join our team. We are interested in an apprentice who is looking to build a rewarding career with CRS.

Job duties

  • Fitting
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Welding (FCAW/MCAW)
  • Custom Fabrication
  • Crane fabrication
  • Structural Welding

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to noise, dust
  • Exposure to hazards such as power tools, slips, trips, falls, overhead objects, sharp hand tools.
  • Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
  • Physically fit with good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Educational Requirements

  • 3rd year apprentice preferred
  • Class S classification and will need to pass a CWB weld test if not current.

Compensation/Benefits/Hours

  • $30 – $33 per hour
  • Employer paid health and dental benefits after 90 days
  • RRSP matching up to 3% after 90 days
  • Safety boot reimbursement program
  • Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday plus optional overtime as required.
