Overview

Duties:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Layout reference points and patterns
  • Perform light maintenance on welding equipment such as replacing contact tips and nozzles, replacing liners, replacing drive rolls on wire feeders and exchanging shielding gas bottles
  • Set up, adjust and fine-tune voltage and wire feed settings to achieve desired quality results
  • Select and transport metal stock to the work area manually and/or using an overhead crane
  • Ensure welds conform to specifications as outlined in procedures
  • Train or supervise welding apprentices
  • Move structures for assembly/rigging during the final commissioning phase
  • Keep accurate records as required by ISO/API company procedures
  • Comply with company safe work practices

Experience/Training Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Journeyman/Journeywoman Welder Certification from a recognized provincial training authority
  • Certified (or certifiable) to CWB/CSA or AWS standards
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete all required pre-employment testing

  • Ability to multi-task and move between tasks as required
  • Ability to self-motivate in a repetitive working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Fitting/tacking as per drawing will be an asset
  • Working with ERP and CAD system,
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Team player
