Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum 3 – 6 years of experience
  • Welding school or on the job training
  • Certification to weld on pipe or plate
  • Knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural and vessel materials

Professional Skills/Experience:

  • Must pass 6G test pipe.
  • Performs complex and precision welding techniques.
  • Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements, sequence of welding assignments, and personnel needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses manual GTAW (tig) or SMAW (stick) welding process (must pass Welder Performance Qualification tests) in all positions primarily on stainless steel pipe and tubing but could be utilized for other weld processes and products.
  • Ability to pass applicable test(s) and applicable Non-Destructive Exam
  • May use grinders and other hand tools.
  • May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. May perform position welds on code materials
  • Quality x-ray and ultrasound test welds with minimum rework
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Promotes and supports safety, production and positive attitude
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
  • Must be able to operates basic pipe and tube cutting equipment
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and fit up pipe, flanges, etc. with minimal supervision
  • Standard requirements. Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting and reaching will all be required occasionally in
  • this position
  • Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds
