Reporting to the Welding Supervisor, the Level A Welder will:
- Lead by example
- Work alongside the welding team
- Perform the duties of a Journeyman welder
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, callipers, and ruler.
- Tack welds or welds components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Train, coach and correct welding apprentices
- Answer general site questions
- Solve problems to keep production flowing on site
- Act as an interface between apprentices and the Welding Supervisor/Mechanical Superintendent
- Enforce the project-specific health and safety policy
- Enforce the project-specific QA/QC program
- Develop a strong understanding of each project
- Work with order/fabrication tracking software and automated tooling as required
- Participate in a LEAN construction/manufacturing culture as required
- Performs other duties as required

- Able to withstand high-stress and fast-paced environment on a construction site
- Team player (must be able to work well with others on construction sites, including PMP employees, contractors, sub-trades and others)
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with personnel of other departments.
- Good English skills (written and spoken)
- Ability to use Microsoft Office products
- Ability to use Bluebeam, AutoDesk products and/or NavisWorks would be an asset
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the welding industry
- Red seal certification as a welder is required
- SWAM, MCAW, GMAW
- SMAW CWB Valid all position
- MCAW, CWB Valid Flat and Horizontal
