Reporting to the Welding Supervisor, the Level A Welder will:

  • Lead by example
  • Work alongside the welding team
  • Perform the duties of a Journeyman welder
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, callipers, and ruler.
  • Tack welds or welds components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Train, coach and correct welding apprentices
  • Answer general site questions
  • Solve problems to keep production flowing on site
  • Act as an interface between apprentices and the Welding Supervisor/Mechanical Superintendent
  • Enforce the project-specific health and safety policy
  • Enforce the project-specific QA/QC program
  • Develop a strong understanding of each project
  • Work with order/fabrication tracking software and automated tooling as required
  • Participate in a LEAN construction/manufacturing culture as required
  • Performs other duties as required

  • Able to withstand high-stress and fast-paced environment on a construction site
  • Team player (must be able to work well with others on construction sites, including PMP employees, contractors, sub-trades and others)
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with personnel of other departments.
  • Good English skills (written and spoken)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to use Bluebeam, AutoDesk products and/or NavisWorks would be an asset
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the welding industry
  • Red seal certification as a welder is required
  • SWAM, MCAW, GMAW
  • SMAW CWB Valid all position
  • MCAW, CWB Valid Flat and Horizontal
