Program Overview

Faster. Smarter. Safer. This is how Aecon Nuclear is committed to delivering projects. Aecon Nuclear is proud to offer women career-building opportunities in the trades through hands-on training, mentorship, and field experience in our Nuclear sector. We are now accepting enrolment for our future cohorts starting Spring 2023.

Location: Cambridge, ON.

AWIT Program Includes:

  • Hands on Training and Orientation
  • An introduction to Aecon, our industry, and the Nuclear sector
  • All requisite health and safety training
  • Valuable job-specific skills training
  • Preparing for work on site and job readiness training
  • Job placement as a Welder Apprentice and other trade positions as applicable.

The Opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on skills and industry experience
  • Connect and network with other women in the AWIT program and across Aecon
  • Participate in debrief and evaluation sessions

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • A safety-conscious attitude
  • Team player
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Manual dexterity
  • Ability to use stairs, ladders, and climb over rough terrain
  • Ability to work long hours per day sometimes in rough weather conditions
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license (G Class)
  • Must possess High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Construction experience is an asset
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
