Job Title: Aluminum Welder (Plant 1)

Location: Ocala, Florida

Position Summary:

The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. Must weld aluminum & be familiar with Miller 350p.

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.

· Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.

· Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.

· Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.

· Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.

· Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

· Set-up, lay-out, and tack-up of various precision frame weldments and brackets.

· Tack-up structures to tight tolerance

· Move parts and heavy frames on and off machinery and throughout the facility.

· Square up and weld various shapes of components.

· Weld both vertical and horizontal planes

. Must be able to lift 75 lbs and stand all day.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
· Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.

· Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.

· Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.

· Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.

Education and Experience:
· Completion of a formal program or one-two years related experience and/or or equivalent combination of education and experience

Develops working knowledge of the production environment and has ability to respond to change.

Equipment/Machinery Used:

Welding machines, Mig welder, 4.5 inch and 7 inch angle grinder, manual vertical band saw, pedistal grinder, and various clamps and fixtures; basic manual milling machine, forklift, tape measure, hand tools.

Physical Requirement:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal (to include metal or fiberglass ramps placed on 30 degree angles); climb stairs, balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands; lift push, pull, and/or move more than 50 lbs without a mechanical aid; and communicate with others Work environment is a manufacturing warehouse atmosphere with extreme temperature changes, loud noises and machinery with moving parts. Work environment could also involve some outside exposure.

Working Conditions:

  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
  • Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
