Dalrymple are offering a Modern Apprenticeship which will lead to a qualified and multi-skilled role encompassing steel fabrication, steel erection and cladding skills.

We are based in Kirkcaldy, Fife, and have been in business as structural steel fabricators, erectors and cladding contractors for over 48 years. We manufacture, construct, clad and maintain steel framed buildings for the industrial, commercial, public and private sectors and carry out bespoke steelwork and cladding installations and alterations to suit customers’ individual requirements. Primarily, we work throughout Scotland, but have also worked nationwide to suit our customers’ needs.

We have a compliment of long serving employees who are multi skilled with many years of industry knowledge and experience.


What Will I Learn?

The training will take the form of a Modern Apprenticeship and will lead to a formal qualification of
PEO Level 2, NC and SVQ Level 6 qualification. Fife College will be your Training Provider.

Your apprenticeship will last approximately 4 years:

Your 1st Year will be 3 days at Fife College / 2 days at Dalrymple

Your 2nd Year will be 2 days at Fife College / 3 days at Dalrymple

Your 3rd and 4th Years will be learning core skills and achieving competency in the workplace. You will be required to prepare a portfolio of evidence to show your skills and competency which will be assessed by an external assessor.

Workplace training will be given in our core skills:

Steelwork Fabrication

Steelwork Erection

Cladding Operations


What qualifications and qualities are required?

You must hold a minimum of 2 x National 5s at Level ‘C’ or above which must include English and Maths. A Technical or Science National 5 would be advantageous and/or a NC in Fabrication & Welding or equivalent NC qualification.

Applicants must:

have excellent communication skills, problem solving ability and a desire to create a career in the construction industry.
