What you will do:
Work with heavy plate steel to fit heavy machine attachments
Read and interpret blueprints
Fabricate steel weldments and use measuring instruments to fit heavy machine attachments
Assemble and fit metal sections and plates together to form complete units or sub-units
Fasten components together (by tack weld) in preparation for a welder to complete the process
Operate and use various other tools and hand grinders
Your qualifications:
Journeyman certification in welding and or plate fitting or experienced plate fitter
May accept apprentice fitters
A minimum of 2+ years related experience in the manufacturing industry is an asset
Experience plate fitting heavy machine attachments would be an asset
Overhead crane experience
What you bring to the position:
Knowledge of safe use of tools pertaining to a fabrication shop
Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others
Time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Excellent safety record
