Overview

Education

– Welder training (apprentice or journeyperson). Must be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journey person, hold a valid recognized credential or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a apprentice / journeyperson welder.

– Overhead crane and rigging or equivalent experience, an asset

Experience

Approximately 2 years or equivalent experience

Specific Skills

– Fabricate and/or weld items as per specified drawings

– Visually inspect welds, if certified to do so

– Measure, as required

– Follow all safety and quality procedures as specified in the staff manual and quality manual

– Maintain tools & equipment

– Fill out travellers as required (requires training or proof of qualification)

– Maintain a clean and safe work area

– Must be familiar with FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding), Stick welding; all positions.

– Being familiar with Fitting and Coping would be preferred.

– Must be able to read and understand written planning and following verbal instructions.

– Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

– Must have an acute attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met.

Duties Include:

– Understanding blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary for welding.

– Perform welding duties as specified by procedures, blueprints, work orders or oral instruction.

– Grinding, stamping, cutting and/or drilling material.

– Conducting housekeeping and general cleanup.

– Regularly communicating with supervisor and leads to ensure all non-conformances are reported. .

– Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $22.00-$32.00 per hour
