Position: Project based / Temporary / Full-Time

Perks: Camp offered / FIFO – Edmonton or Calgary, AB

**Travel Assistance Protocol (TAP) will be engaged for those travelling from out of province for the duration of the turnaround**

Work Schedule: 6 on and 1 off / 10-12 hours per day

Shift: Day Shift / Night Shift

Job Purpose

The Ironworker fabricates, erects, hoists, installs and repairs structural and stationary ironwork.

Responsibilities:
Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.

Reads blueprints and specifications to lay out work.

Unloads and positions steel units so each piece can be hoisted as needed.

Erects and installs scaffolding, hoisting equipment and rigging.

Aligns and welds or bolts steel units in place.

Erects structural components for buildings, bridges, towers and other structures.

Assembles and erects prefabricated metal structures.

Installs ornamental and other structural metalwork such as curtain walls, metal stairways, railings and power doors, coker cladding etc.

Examines structures for deterioration, corrosion and defects or non-compliance with specifications.

Dismantles structures and equipment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Recognized Ironworker trade ticket (Red Seal) or Apprenticeship information.

CSTS-09/CSTS 2020 & OSSA Regional/BSO/CSO.

Certifications required for the work being performed (Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitor, EWP, etc.).

Pre-access Alcohol & Drug Testing is mandatory.

Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to organize work.

Work Conditions

The incumbent is required to work outdoors live plant/shutdown plant environment with moderate to severe noise, working at heights, extreme temperatures, and numerous equipment hazards.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing assembly specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
