Overview:
Lafarge is looking for an Apprentice Welder – 3rd Year for our Lafarge Asphalt Technologies operations in Edmonton.

This is a 4 – 6 month contract position.

Responsibilities:
Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes.

Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments

Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment

Operate previously set up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.

Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding.

Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines

Examine welds and ensure that they meet the standards and or specifications of the job.

Qualifications:
Candidate must be a registered Welding Apprentice

Experience in concrete manufacturing is considered an asset.

Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) ticket.

Additional safety training would be an asset.

Good stick welding skills.

Must be proficient at fabrication.

Capable of reading and following an engineered drawing.

Capable of operating an oxy-acetylene cutting torch.

Good work ethic and attitude required.
