Overview
The position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position and will require completion of pre-employment alcohol & drug testing.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Knowledgeable about general safety practices
Operate an Oxy-Propane cutting torch, cut steel, and different types of scrap metal when necessary
Reviews layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for cutting metal components
Set up and maintain the operation of oxygen tanks and gauges
Conduct daily equipment checks
Report safety hazards or concerns
Operate equipment while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
Follow the client’s operating standards and procedures
Operate two-way radios and other communication when required
Minor repairs to equipment. Report any necessary reports to the supervisor
Qualifications and Education Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience using oxygen torches
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Must successfully complete pre-employment drug, alcohol, and fitness testing
Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Valid Safety Tickets (H2S, First Aid, CSTS, Ground Disturbance)
CWB Certification is an asset
Grade 12 or GED
Must have steel toe work boots; other personal safety gear is an asset
Ability to Work variable shifts & hours
Work and/or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, isolated locations, and by various means of transportation
You will be required to perform heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
Physically fit, must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, and able to work on feet for long periods of time
Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test. The use of cannabis is prohibited, as this is a safety-sensitive workplace
Can work well as a team member or independently with little direction
Must be reliable, mature, punctual, motivated
Strong detail orientation with computer skills
Solid communication and customer service skills
