We are looking for an Architectural Designer with model-making and fabrication skills to join our Projects team.
As an Architectural Designer (Modeler/Sculptor/Artist), you will be working collaboratively with the fabrication studio team and participating in crafting three-dimensional scale models that are used for schematic and conceptual design development and presentations. Our studio works across various sectors and building typologies including cultural, educational, healthcare, custom residential, commercial, retail, multi-unit residential, and interiors.
Your manager and colleagues will introduce you to the project, requirements, and systems and will collaborate with you to develop and achieve the goals your objectives.

As an Architectural Designer (Model Maker / Fabricator), you will:
- Create physical models for successful presentations and submissions
- Utilize physical models as a design tool to support and assist Architect’s design approach and development
- Study, observe and interpret architectural drawings and sketches from the Architect to develop and fabricate conceptual and presentation models that accurately reflect the concept
- Develop a strategic plan to complete models under a tight deadline, including establishing scale, creating a schedule and selecting material
- Maintain (repair, calibrate, regulate, fine-tune, and test) machines, devices, tools, and equipment regularly
- Monitor inventory on regular basis and re-stock any shortage
- Operate power tools and hand tools in a safe manner
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with the team
- Develop drawings and 3D models for outsourcing if required
To help you in achieving your objectives you will have:
- A degree or diploma in Architecture, Fine Arts, or equivalent
- The ability to read and understand architectural drawings and sketches
- Strong skills in woodworking, architectural model making, fabrication and furniture design
- A steady hand and a good eye for detail, proportion, and colour are important qualities for a model maker
- Coordination and collaboration skills that will allow you to adjust actions based on teams’ actions and objectives
- Experience in providing creative solutions by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
The tools and software that you will be using in this role:
- AutoCAD
- Sketchup
- Rhino
- 3D Max
- Adobe CC (Photoshop, Lightroom)
- Skills in Photography would be an asset
