Overview
Position Description:
Provide leadership to a manufacturing group comprised of both salaried and bargaining unit employees.
Plan, schedule, and assign tasks/projects to achieve performance targets including safety, quality, cost and schedule targets and develop contingency plans when required.
Provide input to managers on workforce planning decisions.
Actively lead meetings to ensure productive working relationships and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
Manage key cost elements including overtime, departmental expenses, Hours Per Unit (HPU’s), master production schedule (MPS).
Provide accurate daily/weekly/monthly status updates on all work activities within the team.
Support and implement all quality initiatives to ensure the highest customer satisfaction.
Foster collaborative working relationships with both internal and external customers/partners.
Work collaboratively with bargaining unit leadership, Labour Relations and Environmental Health & Safety.
Identify and support implementation of innovative manufacturing technologies with a focus on process improvement and digital technology.
Participate in and support all required audits and follow through on any actions resulting from the audit to improve processes.
Develop employees through goal setting, training, coaching and providing regular performance feedback and document in performance development system.
Maintain compliance with GDLS policies and procedures including Trade Compliance (ITAR), ISO procedures, Security and Safety regulations and industrial training requirements. Ensure compliance of Unifor contract requirements.
Complete all administrative duties in a timely manner.

University Degree/college diploma in relevant discipline (i.e. business, manufacturing, engineering)
Self-directed and goal oriented and able to work under demanding conditions
Demonstrated ability to work and participate within a team environment
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
Strong computer and digital technology skills
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Strong financial and business acumen and understanding of cross functional processes
Minimum of 3 -5 years leadership experience
Ability to travel (10% Cdn) and (10% US & Int’l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport
Preferred Requirements:
Previous manufacturing experience in a unionized environment
PMP designation
