Overview

Description:

· Works independently to operate cutting, grinding, and welding equipment, including specialized welding equipment, in the fabrication of oilfield production equipment.

Skills:

· Must be able to weld in all positions with a high degree of proficiency.

· Must be able to use tape measures and shop math to make calculations and measurements.

· Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications.

· Must know how to setup, maintain, repair, and operate, cutting, grinding, and welding equipment with minimal supervision.

· Must be able to pass tests and perform welding techniques to meet A.S.M.E. code requirements.

· Must be able to set up materials to perform welding, cutting, and grinding tasks. Must be able to position and align parts for welding.

Physical requirements: Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms, in coordination, to lift, handle and carry tools, welding equipment, materials, and tools, weighing up to 70 pounds, and must be able to handle, push or pull, manipulate, position, and move tools, materials, and welding equipment, from a static position, weighing up to 45 pounds. Must be able to climb and descend ladders while carrying objects or tools. Must be able to observe, read, and process information from relevant sources to perform welding tasks. Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, to move, bend, reach, and/or twist one’s entire body, while lifting, climbing, balancing, crouching, squatting, kneeling, walking, and stooping, while handling equipment and materials. Requires the ability to use arms and hands in a strong and steady manner. Must be able to work in a noisy environment which is subject to temperature extremes. Must be able to stand on a hard floor for extended periods of time.

Knowledge Requirements: Must be adept with the use of cutting, grinding, and welding equipment and other tools used in welding, grinding, and cutting metal. Must know how to use a measuring tape. Must be able to read and interpret complex plans and specifications. Must know how to measure and to use shop math to solve problems. Must be able to interpret weld requirement symbols. Must have knowledge of common heat reactions of metal. Must have good knowledge of A.S.M.E. code requirements. Must know how to use hoists and overhead cranes to move and position materials and products. Must know how to erect and safely work from scaffolding.

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred, plus technical education in welding or equivalent experience.

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 5 years as a welder.

Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
