Overview

Summary of Position:
Performs a brazing using a gas torch welding similar materials together (mainly nickel, copper, & brass) using a filler material. Works with the various metal components and fuses them together using intense heat to form the final and desired product following detailed work instructions, processes, and procedures (written and verbal) to meet and exceed customer expectations. Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, and shop orders to weld coil units.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

Basic understanding of heat control principles

Able to set up and operate induction and/or torch equipment as required

Work from layouts, prints, specifications, route sheets and general instructions

Ability to set up and operate braze equipment as required

Ability to join assemblies using fixtures and tooling to meet dimensional requirements

Examine parts using calipers, scales, etc. to verify accuracy and functionality according to specifications

Selects proper tip and alloy rod and regulates pressure of gas flow.

Performs tests on units for leaks, hipot, resistance and makes necessary assembly or brazing reworks.

Polishing units

May operate machinery such as sand blaster, press, and laser welder

Perform general departmental housekeeping regularly

Sustain production standards and quality

Perform in-process visual inspections, dimensional inspections and cosmetic final clean up

Regular attendance and punctuality required

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent education, training, and/or related work experience.

0-2 years brazing/manufacturing experience

Must be able to work with ITAR products and related data without restriction.

Skill Set Required:
Use of basic hand tools and measuring devices (calipers, etc.)

Basic understanding of blueprint

Basic computer skills

Basic math skills (i.e., may have to do conversions to decimals)

Basic verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:
Restrictions limited only by individual’s inability to perform essential job duties and where an unsafe condition would result for the individual or surrounding employees.

Required lifting weight: 35 lbs. Lifting Frequency: Daily

Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and moving for extended periods of time.

Ability to work in a Manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions

Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment

Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable

Requires repetitive movement

Safety Hazard:
Works with power tools and equipment.

Requires the use of proper PPE when necessary

Completes Soldering, Polishing and Brazing.
