The Associate Welder is someone that is an entry level welder. They should possess training from a technical education facility or have several years of welding experience in industry. Associate Welders will be provided 80 hours of training each year. The Associate Welder will be provided on the job professional development time annually to develop new welding process skills in order to be promoted to Welder 2. The field service position may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

Responsibilities :
Add one certification in a different material using one of the successful pre-hire weld certifications in the first 90 days

Pass new weld certifications for the scheduled weld process for the given progression year

Work using metals, mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminum

Develop welding skill sets in the following order

GTAW(TIG) – 6G Position with multiple materials

SMAW(Stick) – 6G Position with multiple materials

FCAW(Flux Core) –1G, 2G, 3G and 4G Position with multiple materials

GMAW(MIG) – 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G Position with multiple materials

Obtain three years of full time welding experience with The Walt Disney Company

Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies

Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required

Basic Qualifications :
Valid Florida driver’s license

Ability to read and interpret Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS)

Demonstrate blue print reading skills including weld symbols

Design and fabricate fixtures

Proficient at the following activities

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
